The lens restoration process involves the following steps:
- Removal of the existing u.v. layer and any smoothing of and minor surface damage to the lens, including light scratches. Deep gouges and pitting can only be smoothed, not removed. This is done by very careful sanding (there is no chemical for this).
- Cleaning and inspecting the surface for any remaining damage or artifacts.
- Spray application of a new highly protective coating. This is the new final finish. The one the factory should have done.
