Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions I get asked about this business.
If you have a question not answered here, please email me from
our Contact page and I will answer it directly.  Thanks

What happens when you come out to see my car?

We’ll look at the condition of the lenses. I will show you a sample (an actual headlight) of our work so you can see the expected results. You get to make up your mind right then whether to go ahead with complete surface restoration. You can watch the process or not, that’s up to you. The restoration process takes about an hour and a quarter. When I’m done and you are satisfied with the results, I’ll give you a receipt and a factory warranty card.

How is my car protected from damage during restoration?

The entire work area is masked off. Leading edges are masked during the sanding process and re-masked during the new protective coating application. If the weather is off and windy, we erect a plastic ‘dome’ over the work area to keep out the wind and dust. We leave your car as clean as we found it, no mess is left behind.

Where can you work on my car?

Pretty much anywhere, at your home, at your office. We are self contained and need no power or water. We will work on your car at a park and ride, but we will need to coordinate this (some cars have alarm systems that would need to be disabled, or we would need your keys). We prefer to have you available for the process, call us and we'll work it out.

How can I pay for the service?

We take cash, checks and accept credit cards through PayPal.

My headlights have scratches, can you fix this?

Minor surface scratches are not a problem. Deep gouges can be hard to reduce in depth due to the amount of sanding required. After the new sealer is applied they will still show, but not significantly.

I see moisture behind the lens. Can you fix this?

I do not offer this service. The lens needs to be separated at the seal, cleaned and sealed back together. This cannot be done on the vehicle. It is most likely cheaper to replace the lens.

What happens if I’m not satisfied with the restored lens?

I will not ask you to accept a job that I wouldn't and I'm very picky. I will make another appointment to strip the lens and restore it again. The new coating needs to cure at least 45 minutes before I can repeat the process. Depending on our schedules, we may need to make a follow up appointment. I do not ask for payment until we are both satisfied with the restoration.
